I’ve just created a new widget as a plugin using the Simplepie WordPress plugin for the RSS feed logic.
You can specify how many images you want to display, and a sample template is provided to get you started, though it should be more than good enough for what you need.
It comes with the latest version of PHPThumb to generate good-looking thumbnails. You can see the value 150 in the sample template – this sets the width – a value you may change yourself.

how do you change the title?
Download version 1.1 – you can do it via the Admin there.
Hi I really glad to found your plugin, but unfortunately this plugin doesn’t work on my page http://www.allfreedesktop.com/ everything was configured properly on simplepie wordpress plugin, but when I applied your rssimages plugin it says that templates folder cannot be found. Thanks…
Did you install the rss image template in the simplepie theme folder? The theme file (tmpl) is in the rss image widget folder.
Hey there, installed the plugin and SimplePie and everything, but it’s not showing an image: http://blog.fantasticbonanza.com/ on the very bottom of the sidebar. Instead, it’s showing a purple box with a Usage comment. Is this a problem with the feed I’m using, or something else? Thank you!
Purple boxes here too.

Hmm, I’ll need to double-check what kind of server setup you both have. Any way I can get FTP access? Use the contact form if you want to continue this further.
hey great plugin.. i was hoping there was a way to use it if my theme does not support widgets?
I have simplepie installed and it retrieves images for only some feeds, and others only your plugin works but my main theme does not support widgets
thx.
Hi, cool widget but… I’m having the same ‘purple boxes’ problem that others have mentioned. If I use the widget to display images from my Flickr feed, all works perfectly. However if I try to display images from a feed on the server, I get the purple box with the following error: “Usage: /wp-content/plugins/rss-image-widget/phpthumb/phpThumb.php?src=path/and/filename.jpg
read Usage comments for details.”
I’ve tried tweaking settings in phpThumbConfig.php but I still cannot get it to work. If I click the purple box, it links to the correct image. It just isn’t showing up. Any suggestions? Let me know what kind of info you need as far as my server, etc. Thanks in advance!
I`ve installed and it worked perfectly for me, nice job!
