See your Wordpress.org Plugin updates for the latest and greatest code! I’ve gone ahead and incorporated some interface and logic improvements to the plugin:
- Using the new Wordpress 2.8+ widget class I made the widget use instances to support multiple category widgets
- A new widget form for editing in the Wordpress widgets area
- Title, excluded categories, and search types are configurable via the form (you can remove the user configurable search type altogether if needed)
As usual donations are welcome, and please remember that I did not get paid to offer this plugin update to you! Also, if you need any website work or coding done please let me know via the contact form, not via the comment area.

Hey Zack – ‘you rock’ as they say. Thank you so much for your fantastic Multiple Category Selection Widget! It now works with all those other plugins. Just a note that if a post has a parent & a grandparent category, you must tick both for the post to be displayed byyour widget (but not by other menus/dropdowns). The work you’ve done over the past couple of weeks really shows. Thanks again.
Hi! Excellent plugin… how can I customize it in order to look the same as the rest of my blog theme from WooThemes?
… and I wonder how to change the order of the categories listed in the widget (not alphabetically)?
Hey Zack – thanx for the great work! I am using now your Multiple Category Selection Widget. It works great. One question – if it is possible to show different font colors in different parent/children categories. So you can make a good distinction between the different category types.
thanx again
Hi – just installed your plugin – so far so good thankyou – I think will be extremely useful. One question, any plans to add a text field to the search so that people can search for a specific piece of text within the filtered categories?
Thanks for the plugin! Its great – is there anyway however not to show a category on the search…? i.e. just search Categories 1-3 but not 4…
Cheers!
You can change the categories excluded in the widget options area.
