In Tune for Life

In Tune for Life

A VCE Music Resource site (Australian), this site is built in WordPress and also uses the Lussumo Vanilla forum.

Plugins used include WP-dTree, my Quick Shop plugin, the Who Sees Ads plugin, the Event Calendar, and the WP-GBCF contact form among others. An ad space was created for the ad plugin in the top of pages and at the bottom of posts.

Also, a special AJAX catalogue was created using the Scriptaculous and Prototype Javascript libraries included in WordPress.

QuickShop was updated to version 1.1 for this project. It now supports Australian Paypal and displays product price, as well as images for removal and checkout. The tags have been changed too to allow for these new types.

Lastly, an already-made theme was used (Scorpio) and then significantly modified to fit the site.

QuickShop

2.5-ready QuickShop is here!

You can view it running on a live site.

I’ve just created a plugin for WordPress called QuickShop and released it under the GPL. You can find it at WordPress Extend. This plugin installs a Sidebar Widget which shows the items in the cart and allows you to remove them, as well as allowing you to place tags in your posts which generate a form button to add products to the cart.

I have integrated it with the WP-GBCF contact form and more information about that can be found in the README. It inserts the cart contents into the message field with amounts for users to edit. You can also integrate it with other solutions if you like…

If you need the Paypal changed to your currency of choice let me know. I will eventually be providing an admin interface to change the currency, but as of right now you can only change the currency in the code itself.

Need help or want it enhanced? Just contact me! Some people want CFormsII support. I’m afraid that I can’t offer this for free as CForms is a bit more complicated than simple text substitution.

Also, despite running a business, I devote a significant amount of time into this plugin for you, my clients, and myself, and give it to you people for free. If you feel generous you may donate through Paypal, you could link back, or you could ask me to work on your site.

Flying Pickle – Business Directory, Site, Theme, and Plugins

Flying PickleThe client for Zetaprints.com approached me for a news site based upon WordPress. Using WordPress 2.3 I developed a solution for a community-based news site where users submit news and events.

Many plugins were used: Akismet, Cimy User Extra Fields, CountPosts, Event Calendar, Get Author Profile, iMax Width, Restrict Author Access to Edit Comments, Role Manager, Search Everything, Subscribe2, VoteforPost. Sometimes I had to modify them to provide the client with exactly what he required, and I also modified the WordPress Admin interface to hide some items with CSS for Authors as it was a little too confusing otherwise.

Multiple loops were used to display posts on the front page and a business directory was created and integrated into the theme to allow people to display their businesses and contact details attached to their profile. Also, a custom query was created to show three highly commented posts over the past few days.

Credo Trust – QuickShop Plugin, Theme

Credo TrustCredo Trust was designed as a mini shopping cart site. It uses posts to collate the products and the NextGen gallery for images, as well as search-engine friendly plugins and the WP-GBCF form.

I created a plugin called QuickShop for this site which works by allowing you to put a tag in your post with the name of your product. This generates a form button called ‘Add to Cart’ which puts the product into the cart. I also created a sidebar widget for the plugin which shows the items currently in the cart. When the user is ready, all they need to do is go to the contact page or click on ‘Proceed to Checkout’. I made this link to the contact form where I integrated WP-GBCF, a contact form plugin for WordPress, into QuickShop. The contents of the cart are loaded into the body of the message with amounts allowing for the customer to easily edit everything, and upon sending the form the cart is cleared. This is fine as the client wishes to use direct debit only.

Zack Design gets an update

Zack Design now has a WordPress installation powering it, and is a prime example of how good WordPress is at content management.

The theme itself (using Ocean Mist as the base) is likely to change drastically, though for now all that is done is a new header.
