The current site is already equipped with a graphically customized horizontal menu – the whole thing having been created by a former employee using the "Artisteer" software suite (preformatted, drag and drop type stuff).

What I need (or have been attempting to do unsuccessfully thus far) is to place a horizontal menu using your code into a specific set of pages while keeping the header and menu used site wide intact and visible. These pages will have two sets of menus.

Utilizing the manual class reference code provided on your WP plugin site I've been able to get the desired effect by injecting the manual reference php right into the page-specific php template. However, two serious issues remain that I cannot solve:

1. Any upload of a custom menu.css (or superfish.css) to my root theme directory is ignored by the plugin, as is replacing menu.css within the plugin directory itself. In both instances the menu continues to use the default theme parameters provided with the plugin.

The css I'm attempting to upload is ripped from the style formatting of the wp theme's style.css (I have tried with both a complete style.css duplication into menu.css as well as including only the code pertaining to the menu)

I dont know if it makes a difference for the plugin reading the code but the only difference between mine and your default (besides mine being a lot bigger) is .art-menu and .art-* in my code compared to yours using simply .menu

All that having been said though, if I insert the php header argument into the php for the custom page im working with and add your functions code to my own functions.php, then the plugin *will* render the custom css – except it will do this on every page and appears layered on top of the underlying (site originial) css.

2. It may be a simple option to toggle but I'm not sure/havent seen if its possible to have the "home" button point to the custom page the menu will be placed on and then the rest of the links follow from the child pages to this one.

Its information for an event the company is running so I want all the info to be clearly separated from the main site content and deliniated in its own tabs – hence the issues

Normally I'd just contract out and have this entire fiasco coded properly by hand but we're on a tight budget and an even tighter timeline. Also, for some reason, our stakeholders seem to love the current design…

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Sat, 17 Jul 2010
